Overline

Our overline is a type treatment that draws the eye to important content. Use it to organize content and aid navigation.

The overline is drawn to match the exact proportions of the vertical stem of the capital letter it is paired with. See Step 1 at right for more information.

The overline is left-aligned with type and offset from copy based on the type.

Always maintain the proportions of the overline when resizing to align with type.

Follow these rules when using the overline:
  • Always use it above type. Never use it below type or above an icon. The type underneath should always be sentence case.
  • Use it to indicate hierarchy, aid navigation and organize content.
  • Don’t overuse it.
