Our Imagery covers three main topics: people, abstractions and product. Our dark and light images capture moments of inspiration. Our portraits make our people the heroes and put them at center stage. Our abstract imagery can visually convey technical concepts. Our product Imagery elevates and celebrates our final products.

People

Dark imagery

When our dark photography is used with a gradient in a curve frame it should be paired with our bright gradients to ensure there’s enough contrast to see the edges of the curve frame.

Our dark photography is focused on people in vivid color and conveys a sense of cinematic illumination. The imagery can be infused with the vivid Micron colors, adding richness and bringing all of our brand’s visual elements together.

Light imagery

Lighter photography should be paired with our dark gradients to ensure there’s enough contrast to see the edges of the curve frame.

Our light photography also has cinematic atmosphere and illumination, but the colors are more natural. The captured moments are candid, and the lighting is warm.

Liquiforms

Our liquiform backgrounds are a key element in our visual toolbox.

Futuristic and seamless, these backgrounds symbolize our constant movement and evolution that put us ahead of the curve.

To ensure readability, always use white text over the liquiform, and place the text in the empty spaces.

The liquiform comes in four colors — inspired by our gradients — and in multiple crops with plenty of empty space for your messaging.

Material abstract

The vivid colors of our silicon wafers inspired our entire brand palette. We use macro photography of our semiconductors to highlight and showcase the beauty and precision of our products.

Macro photography and video are great ways to highlight innovation and illustrate abstract technological concepts. When selecting imagery, use color to your advantage by choosing pieces that complement your design and storytelling needs. Always use images with a purpose  —whether as a visual metaphor or simply to help emphasize a key point or takeaway.

Imagery balance

Imagery balance

Primary and hero product renders should be reserved for big hero moments.

To balance gradients with imagery, we recommend pairing lighter photographs
with dark gradients and darker photographs with bright gradients. This creates more contrast and eye-catching or attention-grabbing pieces.

Secondary imagery can also be used for covers and other primary communications when the subject matter calls for a more natural and candid look.

Editorial, naturalistic imagery added to the mix helps achieve an overall balance.

Product imagery follows the same balance rules. Hero product renders are reserved for big hero moments and can be followed by functional imagery that showcases multiple product or secondary product placements.

Things to avoid

People imagery

Don’t overuse dark imagery.

Don’t use cliched subject matter.

Don’t use imagery decoratively. Showcase engaging pictures that speak to the copy.

Don’t use busy product imagery.

Don’t apply color to an image in an artificial way.

Don’t use busy photos where too many distractions take away from the main subject.

Don’t show subjects who are not engaged or in focus.

Don’t use copy over a busy image.

Liquiform and abstract imagery

Don’t use multiple liquiform images side by side.

Do use liquiform as a background for the most important messaging and our grays to divide secondary information.

Don’t let our material abstract imagery obstruct readability of the message and overwhelm the layout.

Do use our material abstract images to add energy and visual impact to the message.

Don’t let copy extend over the busy area of the liquiform image.

Do break copy so it stays in the dark area of the image where it is readable.

Don’t pair our bright and colorful material abstract imagery with our bright gradients.

Do pair our material abstract imagery with our black background to emphasize the image.
